Donation Terms and Conditions

  1. DEFINITIONS
    1. Stichting The Ocean Cleanup (“The Ocean Cleanup”) is a foundation established under the
      laws of the Netherlands, with its seat in The Hague and registered office at Coolsingel 6,
      3011 AD Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
    2. Mission: The Ocean Cleanup is committed to developing, scaling and utilizing technological
      solutions for the removal of plastic waste from the oceans, seas, rivers and other waterways.
    3. Donation: any asset, including any monetary amount, gifted by a Donor to The Ocean
      Cleanup, by means of electronic authorisation through the website of The Ocean Cleanup or
      otherwise.
    4. Donor: a natural or legal person who donates, has donated or will donate a Donation to The
      Ocean Cleanup.
  2. APPLICABILITY
    1. These Terms and Conditions apply to every Donation.
    2. By making a Donation, the Donor agrees with these General Terms and Conditions.
    3. The Ocean Cleanup uses the personal data of each Donor to process its Donation. The
      Ocean Cleanup will not share this personal data with third parties beyond what is set out in
      the Privacy and Cookie Notice on the website and in compliance with applicable laws.
  3. DONATIONS
    1. By making a Donation, a Donor agrees that The Ocean Cleanup can use such Donation, at
      its own discretion, for itself or any and all (future) subsidiaries and/or affilicates of The
      Ocean Cleanup, within the scope of the Mission and the articles of association of The Ocean
      Cleanup. A portion of the Donations will be used for operational and administrative costs.
    2. A Donation is irrevocable.
    3. Recurring donations can be cancelled upon request by the Donor, by contacting us through our website.
    4. The Ocean Cleanup will provide any Donor with a donation certificate upon request by the
      Donor.
  4. FINAL PROVISIONS
    1. The Ocean Cleanup reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions at any time.
    2. DISCLAIMER: The ratios of impact provided on the website are an approximation based on
      the total donations received and the total waste collected by The Ocean Cleanup and its
      operations within the 12-month period of 2024. The data on the total waste collected is still
      being verified and is subject to change.
    3. The district court of Rotterdam has exclusive jurisdiction to resolve all disputes arising out of
      or relating to a Donation, these Terms and Conditons, or the relationship between a Donor
      and The Ocean Cleanup.
    4. Dutch law applies to a Donation(s) and these Terms and Conditions.
